THE FINE PRINT, KINDLY

Size & Care Guide

Getting the size right (it's worth five minutes)

Kindfeet shoes are shaped like feet — wide at the toes, roomy across the front. That means sizing works a little differently to the narrow shoes you might be used to, and five minutes with a piece of paper will almost certainly get it right the first time.

Measure your feet — the 4pm rule

Feet are at their smallest in the morning and their largest by late afternoon. Measure at 4pm or later, because that's the foot your shoes need to fit.

Here's how: stand on a piece of paper with your heel against a wall, weight evenly on both feet. Have someone mark the tip of your longest toe (it isn't always the big one). Measure from the edge of the paper at the wall to the mark, in centimetres. Do both feet — most people have one slightly longer — and use the larger measurement.

Then find your measurement on the chart on each product page.

Between sizes? Go up.

Always. Your feet swell through the day, your toes want room to spread — that's the whole point of the shoe — and a little extra length has never hurt anyone. When in doubt, round up. (And if it still isn't right, the 30-Day Fit Promise means the exchange is free.)

A note on width

There's no separate "wide" version of Kindfeet shoes — because the standard shape is wide. The toe box is cut to follow the natural spread of a foot, not to taper it to a point. If you've spent years buying a size up just to get room across the front, measure honestly by length: the width takes care of itself here.

New to barefoot-style shoes? Ease in.

If you've worn cushioned or heeled shoes for years, your feet and calves will notice the change — and that's normal. Treat the first weeks like starting any new activity:

Week one: indoors and short outings only. Week two: short walks, building gradually. Beyond: let comfort set the pace. Mild calf awareness early on is common and usually settles as you adjust. If you have specific concerns about your feet or health, have a chat with your health professional — we make shoes, not medical advice, and we're comfortable saying so.

Caring for your Kindfeets

Spot-clean with a damp cloth and mild soap as needed. For a deeper clean, hand-wash gently in cold water. Air-dry away from direct sunlight and heat — never a dryer, never a heater, both of which are unkind to any shoe. Stuffing them loosely with paper while drying helps them hold shape. Rotating between two pairs extends the life of both (and yes, we're aware of what we just did there).
